Why does material matter?
Density differs: ABS is light (~1.04 g/cm³) while carbon-fibre blends are heavier (~1.30 g/cm³). For the same weight, lighter materials give more length.
Which diameter should I choose?
Most desktop printers use 1.75 mm. Some older/industrial machines (and Ultimaker) use 2.85 mm. Pick the one your printer feeds.
