Hotend and bed temperature ranges for every common filament, on one visual scale. Find your material, then open its page for a profile tuned to your exact printer.

This is a quick visual reference for filament printing temperatures. Bars show each material's usable hotend range; the white dot marks a typical starting point. Temperatures always depend on your specific printer and filament brand — use these as a map, then calibrate with a temperature tower.

Rule of thumb: PLA prints coolest (~190–220°C), PETG and ABS/ASA sit in the middle (230–260°C), and engineering materials like nylon and polycarbonate run hottest (260–300°C+) and usually need an all-metal hotend.

How to use these temperatures

  1. Start at the typical temperature (the white dot) for your material.
  2. Print a temperature tower across the range to find the lowest temp with strong layer bonding.
  3. Set the bed to the value in the table; drop it 5°C if the first layer over-adheres (common with PETG).
  4. Adjust cooling: high fan for PLA, low for PETG, none for ABS/ASA.
