ASA settings for the Creality Ender 3 V2
Possible with tweaks
These are tuned starting settings for printing ASA on the Creality Ender 3 V2. The Creality Ender 3 V2 has a Bowden extruder with a PTFE-lined hotend, so we set the hotend to 240°C and the bed to 100°C. ASA is the UV-stable cousin of ABS and the better choice for parts left in the sun.

Recommended ASA profile
| Hotend temperature | 240°C (tower 240–260°C) |
| Bed temperature | 100°C |
| Print speed | 45 mm/s |
| Retraction | 6 mm (Bowden) |
| Part cooling fan | 0% |
| Bed adhesion | Hot bed + enclosure; very similar to ABS. |
| Nozzle | Brass 0.4 mm is fine |
| Difficulty | Advanced |
⚠️ ASA likes up to 260°C, but the Creality Ender 3 V2's PTFE-lined hotend caps it near 240°C — going hotter degrades the PTFE tube and releases fumes.
⚠️ Because the Creality Ender 3 V2 is not all-metal, keep the hotend at or below 240°C. For the hottest ASA brands you would need an all-metal hotend upgrade.
⚠️ ASA warps without an enclosure and the Creality Ender 3 V2 is open-frame. Block drafts, raise the bed temp, and add a brim; for tall parts an enclosure is strongly recommended.
💡 Best uses for ASA: outdoor parts, UV-resistant parts.
FAQ
- What temperature should I print ASA on the Creality Ender 3 V2?
- Start at 240°C for the hotend and 100°C for the bed, then run a temperature tower across 240–250°C to dial in your exact filament brand.
- What print speed works for ASA on this printer?
- Around 45 mm/s is a safe starting point on the Creality Ender 3 V2.
- What retraction should I use?
- Use about 6 mm of retraction (Bowden setups need more). If you see stringing with ASA, raise retraction speed before distance and dry the filament.
- Do I need an enclosure for ASA on the Creality Ender 3 V2?
- Yes — ASA really wants an enclosure and the Creality Ender 3 V2 is open, so expect warping on large parts without one.
