PLA stringing: temperature and retraction fixes
Symptom: Hair-like strands form between travel moves.
Most likely causes
- Nozzle too hot
- Retraction mismatch
- Wet filament
- Slow travel
Test in this order
- Print a temperature tower and choose the cleanest temperature with good bonding.
- Tune retraction in small increments for your extruder type.
- Dry the spool if stringing changed after storage.
- Increase travel speed without exceeding machine limits.
Stop changing multiple settings at once. Save the model, filament condition and room conditions, then change one variable and compare.
